Sheger FM 102.1 by Meaza Birru with Shibeshi Kasssa

A documentary created by Ato. Negash Abdurahman titled “Cuba in Africa” was recently premiered and gained huge popularity and awards around the world. The documentary highlights the contributions of Cuba to the independence and development of Africa.

Cuba’s contribution is demonstrated by the independence of Angola, in their fight for the sovereignty of Ethiopia, and the end of the Apartheid system in South Africa. Many Cubans died among their African brothers. Never before foreign powers came to Africa to help and fight for Africa but to colonize and exploit its resources.

Ato. Negash, an Ethiopian-American living in the United States, underlined the leadership of Fidel Castro to “extend solidarity to his own country, with a scholarship program for thousands of young people, something that the new generations should know as much as the heroic deeds in Africa”.

Meaza Birru talks with Ato Shibesha Kassa, one of the young students studied in Cuba, about Cuba, students life in Cuba, and the contribution of Cuba to Ethiopia.

EtCENA would like to thank Ato. Negash Abdurahman for his interest in the Cuba-African relations and Wro. Meaza and Ato. Shibeshi Kassa for their thoughtful comments in this crucial period of Ethiopian History.
